How to Hang and Care for a Stained Glass Suncatcher

A stained glass suncatcher is made to be lived with. With the right spot and a little care, it will glow in your window for many years. Here is everything you need to know.

1. Choose the right window

  • South-facing windows get the most light through the day.
  • West-facing windows catch the warm, golden afternoon sun.
  • East-facing windows glow beautifully in the morning.

Even a window with indirect light will show the colours, just more softly.

2. Pick a hanging method

  • Suction-cup hook: the easiest option. Clean the glass first, press firmly, and choose a hook rated above the weight of your piece.
  • Ceiling or window-frame hook: the most secure option for larger pieces.
  • Curtain rod: hang from a short chain or clear fishing line for a floating look.

3. Keep it safe

Hang your piece where it will not swing into the glass or get knocked by curtains, pets or doors. Our pieces are made for indoor use, so keep them away from rain, frost and strong wind.

4. Cleaning

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. For smudges, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and dry it straight away. Do not use harsh cleaners or soak the piece in water.

5. Enjoy it as the light changes

Stained glass looks different in every light: bright and bold at midday, warm at sunset, softly lit on cloudy days. Many people move their piece between windows through the seasons to follow the sun.
